Project Karangal

Project Karangal – Naatyaanjali helping others

We rise by lifting others
                      – Robert Ingersoll

Project Karangal is an initiative jointly undertaken by Naatyaanjali and a group of Samaritans with a heart to help less privileged families.

Why was the Project named Karangal? Karangal means “The Giving Hands”. This name was apt for the Project as it had similar significance to Naatyaanjali’s symbol, the Anjali Muthra (greetings symbol) which also uses the hands to depict love and respect all.

This initiative commenced in 2014. It had benefited 20 less privileged families whom were stringently assessed and selected. Gift hampers were distributed to these families to add colour to their Deepavali (festival of lights). The gift hampers contained daily necessities as well as festive goodies and were packed by the volunteers themselves. Our own students, their families & friends and other well wishers had wholeheartedly supported the project. Some of our own students had benefited from this project as well.

Thank you to everyone who believed in the project and contributed to its success! Your encouragement is our motivation to do more.

Last year’s success spurred us on to launch Project Karangal again this year.

This year, $100 worth of NTUC FairPrice vouchers would be personally hand delivered to selected less privileged families. A team of three volunteers from the Public Sector will evaluate and select the families who would benefit from this Project.

We thank our Donors and all who made this year’s project a success again.
